After almost 10 years in the electric mobility sector, Etecnic represents a clear example of business success, positioning itself among the leaders in the sector.
The beginnings of Etecnic
After having lost an electric charger competition in Reus in 2015, Jorge Ríos, CEO of Etecnic, decided to embark on an adventure towards electric mobility. Etecnic's first charger was installed in Cambrils, a semi-fast charger that still works perfectly today.
Hard work and a lot of effort
Driven by a small work team and instructing interns, Etecnic takes off and immediately begins to travel the country in search of suppliers and customers. CEO Jorge Ríos detects the interest of the municipalities in the new proposal and decides to focus all efforts on the public administration.
Shortly after, in 2017, the lines of state subsidies appeared, causing the municipalities that worked with the company to take 90% of these subsidies in Catalonia.
Due to the visibility they received, Etecnic had a turnover of €750,000 in 2017, €600,000 more than the previous year. By then, it had already become one of the fastest-growing start-ups. Without stopping to grow and make an effort, the following year it exceeded one million euros.
The creation of EVcharge
In 2018, EVcharge was created, a platform that offers total control of Charging Points, with tools for efficient energy management, optimization of operations and pricing of any point on the planet.
With this software, which also incorporates artificial intelligence to make predictions and establish the rates to be paid by users, Etecnic has managed to expand to Chile, the United Kingdom, Cape Verde, France, Portugal and more, with more than 700,000 users.
More than 2,000 Charging Points installed
Etecnic accompanies the customer at all times, from the installation of the chargers to maintenance thanks to its 24-hour remote assistance. For this same reason, there are already more than 2,000 Charging Points in Spain, and expanding internationally.
Ramona Martínez, General Director, assures that it is possible to travel around Catalonia with an electric vehicle without suffering from not finding a Charging Point.
With the largest municipal charging network in Catalonia, Etecnic is present in more than 200 municipalities with a total of more than 400 public Charging Points.
