(Full description)
150 years of Aveleda In 1870, the result of a dream of our founder Manoel Pedro Guedes, Quinta da Aveleda produced its first white wine. This wine was tasted by the main critics of the time, in Berlin and Paris, immediately gaining recognition for its quality with a gold medal and a silver medal. This is how this company was born, with a distinctive, high-quality wine that was appreciated by so many, that today it is distributed to more than 70 countries. 150 years later, Aveleda has many more dreams come true. Stories of success and joy, innovation in wine production methods, in caring for the vineyard, in welcoming people, and remarkable sustainable growth, all based on what nature offers and new ideas. Currently, Aveleda SA, the largest producer of Vinho Verde wines, is managed by the 5th generation: António and Martim Guedes, and is present in five wine regions of Portugal: Vinhos Verdes, Douro, Bairrada, Lisbon and Algarve. In the heart of the Vinho Verde Region, surrounded by details, through time, surrendered to the senses. This is how the magical Quinta da Aveleda was discovered. Entering this space is like traveling through more than 300 years of history of a visionary family, who for 5 generations have looked after this property as a family jewel. It is like contemplating nature sculpted in a state of passion, it is a new painting with the passing of each season, and an intoxicating experience for each of the senses. Amidst the green of rare species of centuries-old trees, we highlight the vast historical and natural legacy of Quinta da Aveleda: The Manueline Window - A magnificent piece of architecture, classified as a National Monument and dating from a period of great historical relevance, it serves as a living testimony of our connection with the past and our dedication to the conservation of cultural heritage. The Historic Social Table - We honor history at our social table, where Prince D. Luís Filipe enjoyed lunch in 1901. This space, filled with memories and historical significance, is a tangible testament to the pivotal moments that shaped our identity and enriched our history. The Centennial Eucalyptus globulus - preserved in the middle of 8 hectares of the romantic and centuries-old garden of Quinta da Aveleda, stands majestically a Eucalyptus globulus over 200 years old and around 70 meters high. This imposing example of local flora not only beautifies our environment, but also represents a living connection with the past, bearing witness to the cycles of nature and the transformations over the centuries. Next to this venerable eucalyptus tree, we display a photograph dated 1913, depicting the family that resided on this property, thus creating a bridge between past and present generations. The Vineyards encompass all this heritage and the Adega Velha tells the story of wine spirit, in a space dating back to 1850 where more than 300 barrels sleep. In addition to preserving historical and natural elements of our region, we are committed to supporting and promoting local and national artists in various areas of activity, from drumming to folklore, among others. We regularly host exhibitions and cultural events that highlight the talent and creativity of artists in our community, providing them with a platform to share their work and contributions to local culture.
