Procesia attended the Aesmide 2024 Forum, held on October 17 at the Rafael del Pino Auditorium in Madrid. This event marked a significant milestone by commemorating 40 years of service to the defense industry by the Association of Contracting Companies with Public Administrations (Aesmide). This event brought together more than 250 attendees, including representatives from companies, public institutions, and industry experts, to analyze the evolution and current challenges of the defense industry in Spain.
An event of great relevance
The event began with a reception for attendees at 8:50 a.m., followed by the official opening by Gerardo Sánchez Revenga, president of Aesmide, and María Amparo Valcarce, Secretary of State for Defense. Both emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in strengthening the defense industry and the need for continued innovation to maintain competitiveness and national security.
Conferences and panel discussions
The Aesmide 2024 forum was structured into several conferences and panel discussions that addressed crucial topics for the sector. The first conference, entitled "Industry and Innovation," was presented by Jordi García Brustenga, Director General of Industrial and SME Strategy. This session discussed the latest trends in technological innovation and their application in the defense industry.
This was followed by the panel discussion "Economics in Defense," moderated by Bruno Pérez Vázquez. Experts such as Antonio Fonfría Mesa, Professor of Applied Economics at the UCM (University of Madrid), and Javier Torres Seco de Herrera, Director of Defense and Interior at Inetum, participated in this panel discussion. They analyzed the economic challenges and opportunities facing the sector, from financing to technological integration.
Needs vs. capabilities
Another keynote address was "Needs vs. Capabilities," presented by Admiral Aniceto Rosique Nieto, Director General of Armaments and Materials at the Ministry of Defense. This session explored the current needs of the Ministry of Defense and how industry can meet these demands through innovation and cooperation.
Industry response
The round table discussion “Industry Response”, moderated by Miguel Ángel de la Cruz, included the intervention of personalities such as Alberto Fabra Prat, President of the Defense Committee in the Congress of Deputies, and Juan Antonio Tebar Chumillas, Director of Innovation Policies at CDTI. Here it was highlighted how the industry is responding to the needs of innovation and development in the defense sector, underlining the importance of collaboration between the public and private sector.
The Aesmide 2024 forum culminated with the intervention of Lieutenant General Miguel Ivorra Ruiz, Director General of Strategy and Innovation of the Defense Industry at the Ministry of Defense, who stressed the importance of continuing to foster collaboration between government and industry for the strengthening of national defense. This closing of the Aesmide 2024 forum was an opportunity to reflect on the learnings from the event and establish a roadmap for the future.
